Tonight, D and I are headed to the Kimmel Center for the Philadelphia Orchestra's Glorious Sounds of Christmas concert. I've wanted to go to a concert at the Kimmel Center for a while now, and a Rue La La deal for tickets to the orchestra's holiday concert sealed the deal. In addition to the Philadelphia Orchestra, this concert features guest artists from the Curtis School of Music and the Opera Company of Philadelphia as well as the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia Chorus.
I have fond memories of attending Carolfest at Cincinnati's Music Hall as a child. I remember watching the May Festival Youth Chorus, which was made up of high school students, and thinking how cool it would be to sing on that stage. Fast forward to my high school years, and it was me on stage singing with the youth and adult choruses, accompanied by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Though the highlight of the year was participating in the annual May Festival concerts (singing Carmina Burana was the highlight of my three years in the youth chorus), I really enjoyed singing in the holiday concert as well. I'm hoping that tonight's concert will be like the ones I enjoyed so much during my youth.
